It's finally here!

After 2 years of preparation, the Munro Mission is finally upon us! Today the team left Edinburgh with full vans and packed bags and made their way from Oban to the Isle of Mull on the Ferry, where the Munro Mission will begin. Despite the miserable weather, the crossing was smooth and in no time the team were back on the road. The team had a quick pitstop before heading to the Argyll Arms in Bunessan for a final send off meal. We also met Linda and Alistair McLaren, who will be climbing Ben More tomorrow in memory of their son. We are now settling in for a final night of comfort in the beautiful cottage kindly lent to us by the Laing family. The fun starts tomorrow.....Watch this space!

Saturday 2 July 2011

The team had a really successful final recce up in the Highlands last week. It is now just a month before they start the Munro Mission on 1st August, climbing all 283 Scottish Munros in just 49 days. They are now familiar with a lot of the harder parts of the route, especially the Munro's on the Isle of Skye which are some of the trickiest in Scotland. Since the recce in April, training has really intensified, they now clock up over a hundred miles each week on their bikes not to mention the many thousands of hill reps they must have done between them!

Tom, Alex and Ceri at the summit of Ben More on the Isle of Mull. This will be the first Munro the team climb on 1st August.
Whilst in Scotland we also managed to get some great photos and videos of the team and the stunning scenery, so watch this space over the next few weeks for a taste of what is to come this summer. We are all so thrilled that people are keen to join the team. If you fancy join Tom, Ceri and Alex for a day, a Munro or a whole leg of their journey then please click here. Everyone is welcome, avid walkers, Munro baggers, or those who have never climbed a Munro but fancy a challenge!
